FOREWORD.

V£J HERE was a Church at Hornby, some miles
V^J North East of Lancaster, as early as 1338
when in the Assize Rolls a " Robert,
Chaplain of Hornby " is mentioned. It was
formerly a Chapelry in Melling Parish.

The Volume here printed contains 43 leaves of
parchment 13J inches by 9, with two paper fly-
leaves at beginning of Volume and one at the end.

It is a matter of regret that the late Vicar, Rev.
Mr. Williamson, who took so kindly an interest in
the printing and publication of his Register, did not
live to see it in print. The Society is grateful to
him.

and to apply it to the use appointed by they donor,
